Harrison Bergeron Vocabulary

Calibrated- check adjust, settings on instuments used to measure. We had to calibrate the scale in order to weigh the fish.

Consternation- sudden amazedment resulting in confusion. When I saw my 1st gade teacher in Harveys after all these years I was a walking example of consternation

Cower- Crouch, flinch When the cop walked in the room the convict went into a cower.

Hindrance- Stopping, preventing The handicaps in the story were a hinderance to the caracters in the story.

Luminous- radiating or reflecting light when we looked down the tracks we saw a unidentified luminus object.

symmetry- equal proportions. In math class we are looking for lines of symmetry

synchronizing- causing to work or operate at the same time The navy seals synchronized there watches so the two attacks would be at the same time.

Vague- unclear the orders were vague.

Vigilance- watchful, alert, paying attention The guard must always keep up his vigilance


wince to draw back or tence the body as if experiancing pain When the box dropped on his foot his eye began to wince.
